Traffic is important to stay in competition and webmasters and bloggers already take certain step to drive traffic to their website. Writing high quality and unique articles, Social bookmarking, blog commenting, keyword optimization etc. is not what I’m talking about. I know we all try to write high quality and unique articles to get traffic from search engines. Maximum websites have their promotional page of Facebook, Twitter and Google+ but are you satisfied with the amount of traffic that you’re getting? Also, despite writing good articles, commenting on blogs, sharing the articles on social media if you’re not getting expected amount of traffic and bounce rate of traffic on your website is high, you must start pointing out different ways.
I’ve experienced such cases for Lifefive too. When I observed high bounce rate of traffic on my website, I took few steps to make it stable and today, I can say that I’m getting traffic near to my expectation and I’m looking forward to get more in near future. Here, In this Post I’ve mentioned 7 different methods that I took to get traffic.
1. Know your niche and write according to that
There is difference between what you know and what you write. You must write according to your niche because If you are writing about Search Engine Marketing and you don’t have much experience on that, then its useless even If you’ve done a quick research. The reason behind this is; you won’t be able to continue your writing on this subject and your readers will start expecting such articles on your website.
Your experience on a particular subject will take your blog to a new level because you know what you’re writing and let me tell you, People, Search Engines, me, even you love new ideas and views shared by experienced persons.
Here, One question which may arise is; “You have a little idea on particular subject and you want to write an article on that, should you do this?”. My answer to this question is yes please do it by submitting guest post on other popular blogs. The reason behind this is; Other blogs will review you article and make required changes to your articles. Here, your article will be published on that blog, people may notice your writing and In you’ll receive traffic to your website. What you need to make sure is the article submitted by you must be good and well written, It should not be a copy-paste content. Write whatever you know not the content which is already available to read.
2. Learn Search Engine Optimization [SEO]
In order to get traffic to your website, It is recommended to learn Basics of SEO. Basic understanding of SEO will point out the mistakes that your already making on your blog. For example when I started learning SEO, I wasn’t knowing how important ‘alt’ tag is for Images present on your website. I’m sure that you’ll definitely know many interesting things and of course It will make your website always better.

Learning SEO is tiny and easy part but keeping yourself updated is the real challenge and Its important to drive traffic on your website.
3. Follow your Interests
Following you niche on the web is as important as writing an Article on your website. You can follow and Join related websites and people on Social media to keep yourself updated. Personally I believe Twitter & Google+ is great platform to follow your interests.
Now let me explain that how it is connected & deciding to drive traffic on your website. Suppose you’re following Google on twitter and your saw a tweet saying that Google has added a new product called ‘xyz’ to its product pool and you saw the tweet, analyzed the product and write your review about the same on your blog or website. When internet users will search about the product, there are chances to get good clicks from search engines because your articles is fresh and provides some other useful information about the product.
In a nutshell, Start following your interests on Social Media platforms such as Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Facebook etc..
4. Ping your site to Ping Services
Ping services helps your site to be more visible on search engines. Ping services inform search engines about the recent changes made to your website which help to drive traffic to your website from various sources. You can ping your mail URL as well as a particular URL.
5. Don’t go dofollow / Go nofollow
If your site has a blog with public commenting turned on, links within those comments could pass your reputation to pages that you may not be comfortable vouching for. Blog comment areas on pages are highly susceptible to comment spam. Nofollowing these user-added links ensures that you’re not giving your page’s hard-earned reputation to a spammy site.
Another use of nofollow is when you’re writing content and wish to reference a website, but don’t want to pass your reputation on to it. For example, imagine that you’re writing a blog post on the topic of comment spamming and you want to call out a site that recently comment spammed your blog. You want to warn others of the site, so you include the link to it in your content; however, you certainly don’t want to give the site some of your reputation from your link. This would be a good time to use nofollow.
6. Page Rank comes and goes, what matters is “are you getting traffic?”
This is very interesting question because I’ve read many views given by various blogs on Page Rank and I’m sure you’ll read articles saying importance of Page Rank in SEO and traffic. Also, you’ll read many articles saying Why Page Rank is not important to SEO & traffic. My answer to this question would be Yes, Page Rank gives positive effect in search engine ranking but my advise to webmasters is Page Rank comes and goes and you should concentrate on the ways to impress your visitors. Also, a regular internet user doesn’t even bother about the PageRank of website he visits.
7. Host your website with Good web host
You will not get Good search engine ranking if your website is slow and it has certain downtimes. Writing good articles, following you interest and doing other similar activities will not help you if your website is slow. Search Engines love fast loading pages and give good search engine rankings which will helps to gain traffic.
Two quick notes that you should always consider:
- Always avoid cheap web hosts if you are serious webmaster and you have set a goal to achieve a new level.
- If you are targeting a particular region then chose a web host having its servers on that region. Doing this will give you good latency to your website.
