Google has updated its search algorithm that promotes sites with better page layout and good user experience. The new algorithm looks at the whole layout of the webpage and the total amount of content you see when you visit the webpage through Google search results. The Question is whether your blog/website is affected by this Algorithm? I’ve mentioned some tips to utilize this algorithm for your website.
Google Algorithm Update: Above the Fold – January 2012
In a Nutshell
The new Google Algorithm focus on better Page Layout and Rich user experience. It means the algorithm is going to affect the sites having less amount of visible content above the fold and the required content is pushed to down side of the webpage because of advertisement blocks.
Above the Fold Concept
Your Website/Blog must have a good ‘Above the Fold’ content. When you click a search result and visit the site, you see some part of that site and later you scroll down to see mentioned content. The first visible part of the website is called Above the Fold part.
For Example when you visit Wikipedia and search for Google, you see the content about Google in Wikipidia. The First visible part of the page is called ‘Above the Fold.’
If an Advertisement is placed in a manner and to a normal degree on ‘Above the Fold’ part then the algorithm shouldn’t affect the site.
Google has advised that instead of focusing on SEO tweaks, Webmasters should continue to focus on better user experience. Google also stated that this Algorithm will affect only 1% of sites globally, but the changes made to the Algorithm is one of the over 500 improvements that Google is suppose to make this Year.
How to Utilize Google Algorithm update
#1. Remove annoying pop-ups and Newsletter banners from the landing page of your Website.
