Many employers use Telephone interview to indentify the possibilities with the candidates. The actual motive of a Telephone interview is to verify the theoretical knowledge of the candidate. Telephonic interview helps employers to shortlist the candidates for face to face interviews. Recently I attended a Telephone interview. However I really don’t know how I performed but whatever I realized, I’m writing here.
I’ve divided this post into two divisions. The first division is based on your behavior and the second division is based on your knowledge.
How to behave on Telephonic Interview
Keep you voice level normal – Keeping your voice level normal shows a decent attitude and It’ll help you to impress the interviewer.
Don’t get excited – I know you’ll be excited or I can say bit nervous but try not to show these things to interviewer and this is possible only when you’ll keep your voice level normal. I’ve seen many people behave like a Robot on these kind of interviews so avoid being a Robot. Keep in mind that we’re humans and we commit mistakes but in a manner.
Think before you speak – Probably you’ll get few seconds to think but believe me you can utilize this time to summarize your answer. At least you can think the beginning part of your answer.
Listen carefully – After answering the question many people starts thinking about their accent, behavior and answer. Avoid thinking after you answer the question and listen carefully so that you can answer the next question.
Be honest – It’s not like you’re a gentleman or a decent person so you should be honest on the telephonic interview but It’s because being honest will give you a little boost and that will help you to gain some confidence. Perhaps I believe that “Honesty is the best policy” as yet… !
How to deliver your knowledge on Telephone
Keep your answer short – Please don’t go anywhere and try to stick to the topic. Try not add any preface to your answers. If necessary you can explain your answer, but use it only when you don’t know the exact definition and you have got the practical knowledge on the topic.
Again, Be Honest – Answer your questions honestly and if you really don’t know the answer, don’t misguide your interviewer. Remember that they’re the interviewer and certainly they know the exact answer.
I wish all the very best to all the job seekers. May God bless you. 🙂
