Page Navigation for your WordPress blog allows you to insert page numbers at the end of the Page. Page Navigation is a great replacement for WordPress classic page navigation system which shows page links as Older Posts and Newer Posts. Page Navigation is also helpful for your readers and also, it is good for SEO because it generates a much easy to navigate link structure.
Install Page Numbers (Page Links) on WordPress
#1. Install WP-PageNavi WordPress Plugin
WP-PageNavi adds page numbers on your WordPress blog. However, it depends on the type of theme you’re using. Many WordPress themes automatically starts showing the Page navigation after installing and activating WP-PageNavi. But In many cases WP-PageNavi doesn’t show page navigation. So, If you’re able to see page links on your blog after installing the plugin, your work is over now but if you’re unable to see page links even after installing the plugin, read next point of this post.
#2. Insert <?php wp_pagenavi(); ?> function in footer part of the WorPress theme.
Go to WordPress Dashboard> Apperance> Editor, here choose the WordPress theme in which you want to install Page Navigation.
In the right side of theme editor, click on footer.php
In footer.php file, Paste <?php wp_pagenavi(); ?> function in the top. However, you can paste the function anywhere in the footer part, but the position of the page links may change from up to down. When I pasted the function in the down side of the footer.php file, the page links looked very ugly and down to the page.
As shown in above image, finally I’ve pasted <?php wp_pagenavi(); ?> function in the top but, you can paste it anywhere according to your need. You can also adjust the placement of the page links. Here, I’ve added <center></center> tags to place page links in the center of the page.
