Shopping at home, This the the trend that we all are experiencing now a day. In order to explore the full shopping potential it is advisable to take some safety measures and follow some guidelines. In this post I’ve mentioned all the necessary safety tips before making an Online Purchase. Take a look.
Online Shopping Safety Tips
Alternative ways of payment
Check the Payment Options given on Website. Some sites do not accept Maestro Debit Cards. If you’re purchasing products of big amount then Consider ways of payment such as ‘Cash on Delivery’. It is always safe. In case if Cash on delivery option isn’t available, you can contact the customer support for this option.
Use Credit Cards
If you have both Credit card and Debit Card then always prefer to pay from Credit Cards. Debit Cards offer low liability in case of Fraud.
Before Purchasing the Product check for the Manufacturer warranty. Note that seller or third party warranty is different from Manufacturer warranty and Seller warranty is not advisable as Manufacturer warranty.
Replacement and Money Back Policy
Carefully read the seller’s Replacement and Money Back Policy. This will become handy in case if you receive damaged or different product model.
If you’re purchasing products from a unpopular seller or from a website which is new for you, Read the reviews about the seller. You can search Google for the reviews.
Your payment details must be secured and encrypted. Check for the security seals such as VeriSign on the websites. Make sure that website is using ‘https’ when you’re giving your Personal Credentials such as Credit/Debit Card Details.
Expected Delivery Date
Check for the Expected delivery dates mentioned by Seller. However Delivery timings differs from place to place but it is also useful to check Expected delivery date.
Save your Records
Make sure to print and save your online transaction data after purchasing the product. It is the only way to claim that you’ve purchased the product.
Offers and Discounts
It is also advisable that you should not be attracted to huge promotional offers and discounts offered by the seller. For example: A Genuine Reebok watch costs approximately 2300 but I’ve seen on many websites that they are offering it on 200-500 only and there should be a reason that they’re giving away the watch in so cheap rate. So, it is recommended that you should not go with cheap offers and promotions.
If you feel that you’re a victim of online fraud or the seller is not responding according to their policy then you can file a complaint to Consumer forums India. The Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (in short, ‘the Act’), is a benevolent social legislation that lays down the rights of the consumers and provides their for promotion and protection of the rights of the consumers. Before filling any Complaint make sure that the seller belongs to India. Also, it is advisable to purchase the products from Indian sellers if you live in India.None found.
